INTRO
One of the things required as an ingredient to achieving your dreams is the ability to stay motivated, ability to passionately put your hundred percent into chasing your dreams.
Sometimes, things come our way to force us off the right path to seeking that which we desire. Low motivation, low self-esteem, damaged ideals, not able to believe in oneself enough are just a few of the negative elements that take away our energy and strong will.
But how do you consistently stay motivated each and every day to face the obstacles standing between you and your dreams? Well, I share five commonly known but ‘not always practiced’ ways to keep your energy to the maximum when you desire to make those dreams a reality.
The truth is, no one is going to realize your visions, goals, or aspirations for you. You have to be up and about the very little elements that will make you an achiever.

1. READ MOTIVATIONAL MATERIALS
There is a saying that, books give you a place to be when you feel like you don’t have any place to go. This is a very true statement considering the fact that we can sometimes get so used to the everyday activities that we limit ourselves in our own minds. Motivational materials (mostly captured in books) help put you in check. When you read about someone who has achieved a lot and still wants to live a life of much more significance, you would realize there is more you can do.
This is what it does to your brain; before you can achieve a dream, you need to do away with the procrastination mindset. And books give you the urgency or forces you to DO SOMETHING NOW!!. When you have the urge to do the little you can now which takes you closer to your dream, you become so much intentional about your own growth and goals.
It is therefore a good practice to read at least one book every month, reading at least a chapter (1 hour) every day. This is how you stay on top! This is how you keep yourself highly spirit, equipped with enough motivation to surmount any obstacle that comes your way. TRY IT TODAY.
Now if you can’t buy a book to read, there are tons of free self-help/motivational or your career-related e-book online.

2. STAY AWAY FROM NEGATIVE PEOPLE.
What good will it do you if someone de-motivates you after you have motivated yourself? And you can’t tell me whatever he or she says or does won’t affect you! It sure will! Run away from people who have a master’s degree in complaining, negativity, and pessimism. People just don’t see the good side of anything. They like to run away so from attempting so far that, they like to take you along too.
When you talk to some people about your visions and dreams, they tell you “It is not possible”, “you cannot do achieve in this economy”, “you do not have the capacity to do achieve that”. They just don’t see any good in anything first of all because they don’t believe in themselves and want you to have the same attitude.
To stay motivated, stay fully energized to chase after your dreams, do well to avoid such people who will poison your mind, and deter you from chasing your dreams slowly.

3. BE MINDFUL OF YOUR WORDS
Now before you got to this point, reading this article, I am very sure you found the title worth looking at in detail and needed that push. This is the first step.
We were all born in our part of the world with a certain kind of mentality where our parents just throw around negative words with no idea the effect it is having on them and on us. It is time to conscientize yourself and intentionally avoid negative words if you want to stay high in energy to pursue your goals. Words such as ‘I can’t’, ‘It is not possible’ and similar words and phrases must be done away with.
This is not to the extreme, it is the act of conditioning your mind to be active instead of passive, to be solution-oriented instead of waiting on a chance. This negative words when replaced with positive ones condition your mind to be intentional about your own future and make it happen instead of finding excuses for everything.

4. HELPING PEOPLE
When we help people, our brain releases dopamine, a hormone that makes us feel good about ourselves. The deal is, if you don’t feel good about yourself, you won’t be motivated enough to pursue your own dreams. One of the ways to keep releasing this chemical is to do good to people. Help people, put people first, get them satisfied, and put a smile on their faces.
Have you ever offer help to someone who thanked you a million times and tells you “you don’t know what this meant to me”? How do you feel as the source of that help? Good, I guess. Yes! You will feel good about yourself and be satisfied in a very special way. It is an energy-releasing act that will keep you smiling and feeling good about yourself all day long. Find very small ways of helping people. Talk to people nicely, smile at them, be kind to your colleague, when no one is willing to do it, fill in the gap.

5. ESTABLISH PERSONAL REWARD SYSTEM
Everyone likes to be rewarded for the little and big achievements and you need a system like that best works for you. After clearly defining your goals, assigning a deadline to them, and hurray, you have achieved a goal, you must be willing to celebrate. You don’t need to do something very big like celebrating a birthday to reward yourself. People just rest the whole day and they enjoy it, some buy their favorite but not so regular dishes, others go out with friends to their favorite spots, etc.
Whatever little thing that you can do to celebrate your own achievements, do it. This of course makes you feel good about yourself, get you you motivated enough to continue the journey.
